Wates Residential has been designated by Harrow Council as the development partner for a regeneration initiative valued at approximately €650 million (£600 million). This initiative represents Harrow’s most substantial investment and development endeavor to date, aiming to cultivate a vibrant Wealdstone high street that fosters apprenticeships, training, and prosperity within the borough. The transformative project will reshape Wealdstone, introducing 1,500 new homes, including a substantial number of affordable housing units, a novel civic center, retail spaces, offices, a school, and public green areas.

Cllr Graham Henson, Harrow Council’s Leader, stated, “In these challenging times, it is essential to have something to anticipate. Our ambitious plans will provide affordable homes for families, generate jobs for the local populace, establish a new Council headquarters, and rejuvenate Wealdstone town center. Through our collaboration with Wates, we have a unique opportunity to create a substantial and lasting impact on the lives of our residents and stimulate the local economy. Now is the opportune moment to redevelop these three sites and construct a better Harrow for our residents and businesses.”

Cllr Keith Ferry, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Harrow Council, added, “When we initiated our search last summer, we sought a partner with the experience, expertise, and dedication to realize these projects and share our vision for Wealdstone. Wates has proven to be that partner.”

Kate Ives, Development Director for Wates Residential, expressed enthusiasm, saying, “Wates Residential is honored to be selected as Harrow Council’s partner in realizing its ambitious vision to Build a Better Harrow. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with the Council as we construct over 1,500 much-needed, high-quality homes and a new civic center at the heart of the local community. Believing that everyone deserves an excellent place to live, we, as a fourth-generation family-owned business, are dedicated to ensuring that our presence gives back to the communities in which we build. As part of our partnership with the Council, we will not only provide essential additional housing but also leave a positive legacy through investments in skills, training, education, and job opportunities to empower local residents.”
