In a significant move for the student rental industry, Hybr, the curated platform for first-time renters, has successfully closed a record £3.24 million seed round. Led by Blackwood Ventures, the funding round was oversubscribed and included notable investors like Adjuvo, Alec Dent from the Atomico Angel Programme, and former CEOs of The Office Group.
Founder and CEO, 26-year-old Hannah Chappatte, expressed pride in achieving this feat amid the challenges of the year. The capital injection will propel Hybr’s expansion across 20 key university cities in the next 12 months, building on its current presence in ten major UK cities.
Hybr’s platform aggregates available homes for young people, offering a one-stop solution for both private and institutional landlords. This streamlines the rental process, connecting landlords with pre-qualified, responsible tenants. The platform’s success is evidenced by its 98% landlord retention rate and a stellar 4.9 TrustPilot rating.
The funding will fuel Hybr’s mission to address the housing challenges faced by students, with a tech-focused approach to enhance relationships between landlords, agents, operators, and students. As dropout rates and communication gaps persist in the student housing market, Hybr aims to revolutionize a £46 billion industry in the UK.
CEO Hannah Chappatte affirmed, “This raise marks the beginning of our journey to improve the way young people rent,” signaling Hybr’s commitment to reshaping the landscape of student accommodation.
