Airbnb Partners with NatWest to Boost Hosts’ Energy Efficiency

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Airbnb has joined forces with NatWest and Energy Saving Trust to unveil the Sustainable Hosting Hub, aimed at enhancing the energy efficiency of homes across the UK. As part of this initiative, Airbnb is injecting an additional £500,000 into its £1 million Sustainable Hosting Fund, offering grants to hosts seeking energy-efficient upgrades.

The platform provides UK hosts with an opportunity to assess the energy efficiency of their listings and apply for grants via the Sustainable Hosting Hub. With financial support from NatWest, the hub also offers a marketplace connecting hosts with government-accredited installers and contractors in their local areas. A comprehensive dashboard monitors project progress, allowing hosts to optimize energy efficiency and tackle rising energy costs amid a broader cost-of-living crisis.

Amanda Cupples, Airbnb’s General Manager for Northern Europe, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact on communities and the environment. The move follows the success of Airbnb’s Sustainable Hosting Plan launched last November.

Tanvi Gokhale, Head of Strategy for Retail Banking at NatWest Group, highlighted the partnership’s commitment to supporting individuals during financial challenges. By integrating innovative financing options into the Airbnb journey, the collaboration aims to empower hosts to make their homes more sustainable and cost-efficient.

This initiative aligns with Airbnb’s broader commitment to achieving net-zero status by 2030, showcasing the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
